BBZ-1 Rats: No Color Discrimination Here! We All Just Get Along.
Kaplun here with another solid San Diego rat fish! As I had mentioned in one of my last reports, Jorge and I hit the water and the BBZ-1 Rat easily out did all the other rodents that were tried. Unfortunately, I was the only one throwing it. He finally gave in and the next morning, he went out and picked up not one but two BBZ-1 Rat 50's. He grabbed the brown, as well as the ninja. That following night, we went to the pond so he could put his rat to the test and see if the hype was legit. A healthy bass quickly answered the question for him and smashed the brown rat as soon as we got to the spot. It's safe to say that Jorge has definitely become a believer in the BBZ-1 Rat and he will continue to put his time in with it, in search of Big Bertha, who lurks in the depths of the lake.
My night wasn't too shabby either. I managed to stick a couple smaller fish with the bigger of the three in the photo below.
The retrieve tonight didn't vary much. It was a steady retrieve, with a5-7 second pause after 10 handle rotations. Most of the bites came right after the pause, as soon as the rat started to swim again.
Also, I went out the other night in the tube with Greg LeRoy. I was throwing the BBZ-1 Rat 50 in Morning Dawn that I had just picked up from Anglers Arsenal, my favorite and go to tackle shop. That next report will be coming soon! Stay tuned!
