Already Sold Out So Be Ready For Next Year

Columbus, OH – The rolling hills and beautiful lake of Salt Fork State Park served as the backdrop for the 9th annual Ohio Women’s Outdoor Adventure Weekend, where more than 90 women honed their skills in boating, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

“It’s so inspiring to see women getting outdoors, whether it’s a hobby for them or their first time trying something new,” ODNR Director Mary Mertz said. “This event puts adventure and outdoor skills within reach for women who may not realize the vast benefits of spending time outside. I hope more women take advantage of this opportunity in the years to come.”

The Ohio Women’s Outdoor Adventure (OWOA) Weekend offers participants a full range of courses during their time at the park and the Salt Fork Lodge and Conference Center. The signature programs for this year’s OWOA weekend included kayaking, disc golf, standup paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, gun basics, stream monitoring, and more. Participants enjoyed a relaxed setting to discover new outdoor interests while they met new friends and experts.

Registration for the next Ohio Women’s Outdoor Adventure Weekend is expected to open in June 2024. Due to the program’s popularity and focus on beginner-level programs and skills, priority registration is given to first-time participants and is open to women 16-years and older (minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian). The event has sold out annually, so those interested are encouraged to register early.
