White Bear Lake, MN – One week remaining in the 2023 Fish Art Contest! For 25 years, the Art of Conservation® Fish Art Contest has engaged youth from around the world in the joys of fishing and the importance of conservation.
All K-12 students are invited to enter the Fish Art Contest. Students will create and submit an original piece of artwork along with a piece of creative writing sharing what the student has learned.
Art is judged in four age categories: K-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be awarded in each state, with first place winners moving on to compete for national awards.
In addition, students may choose a fish species that renders them eligible for additional specialty awards. The 2023 contest features the Guy Harvey Shark Award, the International Game Fish Conservation Award, the Western Native Trout Initiative Award, the Fish Habitat Writing Award, and more. “The 2023 IGFA Conservation Award focuses on the Roosterfish in conjunction with the IGFA’s new Roosterfish Research Program. Through this award, we hope to give students the opportunity to learn more about the importance of this species and the role they play in our oceans,” said Lisa Morse, Education Director at the IGFA.
Students may digitally submit or mail in their artwork for consideration. Select states have special entry requirements. Details can be found on the entry forms for each state. Artwork must be uploaded or postmarked by February 28th. For full entry rules and details please visit www.FishArt.org
