THE BISHOP TROUT RODEO

Many of us fish the Lower Owens River and surrounding areas of Bishop, California at this time of year and the Southwest Council thought it would be fun to have a safe and fun gathering. Trout Rodeo is a one day (February 26), catch and release, fishing event. It is open to fly fishing, lure fishing and even Tenkara! It is even open to Professional Fishing Guides (but they get to compete separately). The idea is to catch, measure and photograph your fish (and let them go) and the more landed “inches” you have, the more raffle tickets you will win to enter into one of our many prize buckets (and you can buy more tickets at the gate, too!).

To register for the event,  just go to www.swcffi.org/rodeo and click on the upper red text to take you to iAngler (the software used to register your catch). The rules and everything pertaining to the event is on this page and can be downloaded. Cost per person is 25.00 and you MUST have a smartphone as the scoring app works through your phone. Besides individual categories, we also have a TEAM category. In this case, just gather your friends, get them all to register and then pay an additional team fee of 20.00 (no matter the size of the team) by clicking on the Team Payment button at the top of the page referenced above. Teams will be scored by total catch inches and divided by the number of team anglers.

Questions? Contact the Event Organizer, Michael Schweit at SpecialProjects@swcffi.org or call 818.6019702. Remember, while we are a fly fishing organization, this event is open to conventional fishing too. Let’s see who comes out on top!
