Saltwater Tested

Time and time again saltwater game fish eat Charter Master, Tom Trainer’s BBZ Rat. Fishing aboard the Excel on a long-range 10-day trip the boat is on it’s way to the Ridge when they come upon a large floating kelp patty. Dislodged from the bottom, floating kelp patties are a canopy magnet for Dorado, and this one proved the stop was worth it.

Pelagic species like Dorado will travel with floating kelp. The food chain starts with aquatic vegetation. This cover element attracts everything; zoo-plankton, baitfish, crustaceans, and game fish.

A Wahoo chokes the Morning Dawn SPRO BBZ-1 5” Rat, a universal bait.

“Thank you, SPRO, for making the BBZ Rat. I’ve caught Wahoo, Yellowtail, Tuna, and Dorado on the same bait that is in the pic. Quite sturdy for a freshwater bait!” – Tom Trainer.

Again, and again.

I love it when free-thinking anglers’ experiment and excel. Trainer is well past the experiment. I can only imagine the comments when this Charter Master rigged the BBZ Rat on the first occasion, including the conversation after his first hefty score. The results speak for themselves.

The SPRO 6” Sardine Swimbait dupes a worthy Yellowtail.

Mackerel or Sardine, you’ll have a hard time deciding which one you like best.
