2 AOY Titles For Thompson & Siemantel "Snake Eyes"
Ron Thompson and I finished our last tournament for the season this weekend fishing the ABA (American Bass) tournament at Pyramid Lake (Ca). The saying "Time On The Water" in fishing is an understatement and luckily both Ron and I found a few days to put in some work.
The key to this final tournament was fishing fast with the SPRO BBZ-1 6" swimbait to cover as much water as possible to find better fish in key areas. As you will see in this next picture, one of my casts found its way into a small floating debris pile that was wind blown against a bluff wall. Thinking I had snagged a small piece of wood I quickly reeled in to take it off my hook, but to my surprise, I had caught a small rattlesnake.
This little guy actually helped me in my pre fish because I started to pay way closer attention on my long casts, not wanting to catch anymore snakes (haha, just joking....a little) and noticed a few bass that would come up out of the grass to take a quick look and the bait and go right back down. both Ron and I took good notes and made our game plan.
First thing was that there was very little reaction bites on the swimabait so we decided to fall back on the trusty 4" Roboworm and 3/16 Ventana Dropshot from Team Davies and targeted every spot we saw a keeper bass that looked at the swimbait. It was a very strange bite with very inactive bass. But with a great game plan we squeaked out a 2nd place finish and secured our 2nd AOY title for 2018.
Here are our top finishes for both ABA and NBW for 2018
ABA: 8th, 1st, 2nd, 5th, 2nd NBW: 1st, 8th, 1st, 1st, 1st, 5th
I would personally like to thank all of my sponsors that have been with Team BBZ for years now.
