temperatures, in addition to providing comfortable conditions for outdoor activities, create a shift in the aquatic environment. As the lake surface temperature cools and becomes more comfortable, the forage minnows and the crustaceans fish feed upon, spend more time shallow. Anglersʹ opportunities to intercept feeding activity expand. As the sun comes up a little later and goes down a little earlier, chasing the “early and late“ pattern requires less effort or angling commitment. Stripers boiling on the surface where they find shad are part of the fall colors in the October painting. October trips to Lake San Antonio have been successful in both numbers and variety. October weather trends can give us the days anglers wait for. Fish and forage are responding predictably. Catching is getting easier as well as more comfortable. Catfish have been active, reliable,and cooperative.
