Question HAS ANYONE DONE ANY HOOK MODIFICATIONS TO THE BBZ-1 4" AND 6" MODELS. I'VE SEEN HOW TO DO THE LARGER SIZES, WITH THE HOOK ON TOP, BUT WAS WONDERING IF THIS CAN BE DONE ON THE SMALLER ONES WITHOUT AFFECTING THE BALANCE, SWIMMING ACTION-- ECT. I WANT TO FISH THESE BAITS THRU WOOD COVER AND UPHILL PAST THE COVER. HOPEFULLY DRAWING THESE FISH OUT OF THE WOOD INTO A FUNNEL.

I haven't had a chance to play with the 6-inch bait yet. My plan is to remove the existing hooks & split rings and temporarily secure the top hook, magnet, etc on the bait with a rubber band and/or tape and then test the bait.

ICSpots: YES I THINK THAT WILL WORK WITH THE 6" AS IT'S REAL SIMILAR TO THE 8" WHICH BILL SHOWED US HOW TO DO ON ONE FORUM SUBJECT. MAYBE THE MAGNET THE SAME AND THE HOOK SMALLER. I THINK THAT WOULD BE A GOOD STARTING POINT. BUT THE 4" SHAD IS THE ONE I'M REALLY SCRATCHING MY HEAD ABOUT. I SURE WISH SOMEONE WITH MORE EXPERIANCE IN MODIFING THESE BAITS WOULD PUT THEIR BRAIN ON THIS ONE. THIS ONE IS MORE OF A PHYSICS PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE NARROW PROFILE. LOOKS LIKE THE FAST SINK SHAD MAY NEED TO HAVE THE HOOK MORE FORWARD TO MAKE IT NOSE DOWN. I REALLY THINK THIS WOULD BE AN AWESOME WEEDLESS TOOL TO USE WHEN PULLED THROUGH ANY SPOT ON SPOT AND UP A STEEP INCLINE TO FORM A FUNNEL. BIGJOE

AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS OF THOUGHT ON THIS SUBJECT I'VE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE 4" SHAD MAY WORK BETTER JUST AS IT IS. BILL SPENT ALOT OF TIME GETTING THIS LURE TO RUN THE WAY IT DOES, AND TO TRY TO GET IT TO DO ANYTHING ELSE WOULD JUST MESS UP THE SWIMMING ACTION OF AN ALREADY EXCELLENT TOOL. BUT I THINK THE 6"WILL BE EASILY MODIFIED TO RUN WEEDLESS. IT SHOULD STILL HAVE CLOSE TO THE SAME SWIMMING ACTION AS BEFORE. IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS Idea ABOUT THIS SUBJECT PLEASE HELP Confused .

I just pick up my first bbz-1 yesterday in the gill color and slow sink, looking forward to seeing the action bill put in this bait. I am sure I will see what the bait does when I retreive it once or twice. can you use this bait like a jerk bait?? just curious if it messes the action up????

Very versatile lure, rip away. Randy based on your gill color comment I assume you are referencing the 4".

BBZ-1 4" Shad clips that will show some different retrieves.

There is a lot in this clip that goes way beyond promotion.

Another clip that may help.

The Tackle Tour clip shows how the treble hook rides during a steady retrieve.
