ICSpots.
I don't have a problem of anything posting here about fishing. Would like to hear a little more on thought on your color choice and give a technique or two to the member's on how you caught a few of the pig's in the pictures. _________________ Take Care and Keep it in the BBZ

I agree Bill. Hey ICSpots, why did you choose that color? How did you arrive at that choice and under which circumstances? Not going to try a color, "just because"! There has to method behind the madness! And I'd love to know what it is. _________________ "The search for knowledge need never abandon the spirit of adventure." |

First off, I would like to apologize for giving the impression that I caught the bass shown in the links. I did NOT catch these fish. My apologies also to the anlgers pictured in the links. I chose these examples from 3:16 is that Mickey is one of the few lure builders that has made a number of his baits in a "non-traditional" swimbait color.
The reason I posted the links was to get you to think twice about choosing bait colors. Instead of worrying about which of the many available shad or trout finishes you should buy, pick a color you like and fish it and stick with it. This is a case of "do what I suggest and not what I've done". IMHO, after spending a lot of money over the past 20+ years, color is one of the last things to think about when fishing. If I was starting from scratch, I would buy a single color of each bait I was interested in and learn how to fish that bait in a variety of different situations. For example, if it is a crankbait, how does it fish differently on 10# and 14# line. How can you fish the bait around different types of cover such as weeds (different types of weeds too), wood & rock?
We all hear/read about pro anglers who will change color of a specific bait during a day on the water to maximize the number of fish they catch. However, I don't find this works for me as I have a limited amount of time to spend on the water and a limited amount of storage space on the water. I think my time is better spent concentrating on fishing baits in a very limited number of colors.
Now back to the 3:16 photos. These anglers know how to catch swimbait bass and IMO they are providing a perfect example of how presentation and bass knowledge trump bait color.

Tim,
Thanks, and that's a prime example of the BBZ mindset. _________________ Take Care and Keep it in the BBZ
