Going fishing this weekend and looking at the weather it looks like we have a day that is going to be cloudy with rain and a day with some sun. Gonna go one day and we aren't sure which to choose. We are up in Oregon so they are northern strain fish and in my experience most bigger fish in the pre-spawn come on days when the rain is coming down but that is generally a little later like late March or early April. Finally able to get the 6" BBZ and am really looking forward to throwing it. I am really happy to be heading out and normally weather wouldn't bother me as long as I get to fish but we are going pretty far away and want to make the most of this trip. _________________ Nothing like seeing the sunrise |

TEAMCFO I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS, BUT HERE IN SOUTH LOUISIANA THIS TIME OF YEAR (WHICH IS UNSEASONABLY COLD RIGHT NOW) WE DO MUCH BETTER ON SUNNY DAYS. MOST BASS THIS TIME OF YEAR SEEM TO RELATE TO THE DEEPER CHANNELS AND ARE MORE LETHARGIC. WHEN THE SUN SHINES, THE SHALLOW WATER GETS WARM QUICKER PROMPTING BASS TO MOVE UP AND FEED,SEEMS THEY ALSO RELATE TO WOOD WHICH WARMS UP QUICKER. IN A NORMAL YEAR HERE WE WOULD HAVE HAD A SPAWN IN SOME AREAS THAT WARM UP QUICKER,BUT WITH ALL THE COLD WEATHER, WATER TEMPS HAVE NOT REACHED THAT MAGIC NUMBER. I HAVE NOT FISHED THERE BUT I THINK THIS IS MUCH LIKE THE DELTA IN CALIFORNIA WITH A MARSH TYPE ENVIROMENT, AND A BIG TIDAL INFLUENCE. I KNOW YOUR FISHING IS IN A MUCH DIFFERENT ENVIROMENT BUT EVEN TAKING THAT INTO CONSIDERATION I WOULD FISH THE SUNNY DAY. HOPE THIS HELPS. CF O,
If I had to choose from is the day of the front or the day after I would go with the day of the front. I find post frontal conditions the hardest. The reality is...who knows? The best choice in my opinion would be pre-frontal conditions. Take what you can get enjoy it and expect the best. This time of year will surprise you. Sometimes the days that you would expect to be the worst are unbelievable. Just go and try your best to apply the BBZ principals. |

Yeah Saturday is the supposed to be partly sunny while Sunday is supposed to have a chance of showers. Friday is also a chance of showers so its kind of an odd situation. I am thinking Sunday is the day we will get out if the rain starts in the afternoon it could make for a great day of fishing. I am not going to let the weather dictate anything or affect my confidence. There are some good flats with stumps and rolling the bbz1 jr over the top should get some fish. I am really excited to go to bad its Thursday. haha _________________ Nothing like seeing the sunrise |

Ended up going to my normal lake but was sorely disappointed they have not let enough water into it and it is still freezing cold this time of year when last year the water was in 53-58 range and almost full pool this year its super low and about 44-46 degrees (it has been a much warmer spring as well) not sure what they are planning on doing but they better get with it. I guess thats what you get when the people that control the flood gates are in a different state. _________________ Nothing like seeing the sunrise |
