SPRO BBZ-1 Rat Tail Questions & Answers

SPRO BBZ-1 Rat Tail Questions & Answers

"Hi Derrek, I have few questions about the rat for you. My questions concern the tail. Thanks, John Younce."

Q. Does the BBZ Rat lose its tail frequently from fish strikes?

A. No, the SPRO BBZ-1 Rat doesn’t lose it’s tail often. However, occasionally the tail can be damaged and break. I’ve had the braided line break, but I haven’t lost a tail from it falling out or becoming un-pinned.

Q. Is there something you and Bill do that helps secure the tail better?

A. As for securing the tail the instructional packaging and this video are all you need to know. Selecting the right type of wooden toothpick, tapping it in with a heavy tool, and allowing it to swell from exposure to water after it’s been installed is key.

Each Rat bait of all sizes comes with an additional tail in the package, and you can purchase extra tails. Replacement tails are available at SPRO.com. They’re available in 9 colors and are sold 2 to a package.

Experiment with a tail-less BBZ Rat. The action of the lure becomes pronounced without the tail. Bill calls it ‘Twerking’ and I have seen the Twerk work.
