Team BBZ Wins ABA Pyramid Lake Team Tournament Event

Severe conditions kept many competitors away today. The day started with temperatures in the mid 30-degree range. Winds from the North averaged 39 MPH with gusts up 51 MPH throughout the day. To say boat control was difficult was an understatement.

Diligence

Pre-fishing and homework paid off as Team BBZ covered water and despite the conditions executed precision fishing. Bill did much of the heavy lifting with brown and purple jigs. I was able to boat a ‘key’ fish towards the end of the day on a drop shot set-up. This fish was deceived with a 4” Oxblood light red flake Roboworm and a Team Davies Ventana rattling drop shot weight in a mud line.

Safety First

On a safety note, tournament rules dictate that fisherman must wear their life vests whenever the outboard motor is operating.  However, due to the December swirling wind eddies, strong gusts and rough water which made balance and stability arduous we were ‘Zipped and Clipped, all day long. Be safe out there anglers!
