The Illusion of Realism: Crawdads Attack Hudd

The Illusion of Realism: Crawdads Attack Hudd

Without contacting the bottom, have you ever caught crayfish while slow rolling a swimbait?

This was a first for me, and it happened three times on this late fall day. My goal was to swim my lure as slow as possible near the bottom without coming into contact with it. Three crayfish confirmed I was accomplishing my goal. I could actually feel them when they would jump on.

Despite the appearance in the title photo, the ‘craws’ were grabbing the hooks and fins and holding on. I wonder if the Pro-Cure scent had anything to do with it? Highly stained water and the illusion of realism swims by, I wonder if these little buggers are trying to pull fish body parts off?

The crayfish has a hold of the pelvic fins, and won't let go.
